For it is in a continuing depression, social and political discontent is rising and civil war is not unlikely soon. Lots of talk about how things are improving flows back and forth but it is all false and nonsense. Italy, Spain, Portugal, France...are in the same rotten shape. But we have lots of polls and puff pieces about how things are improving. The governments and leaders of Greece, Italy...are paralyzed. In truth, everything that COULD get worse IS getting worse - and it is the same worldwide. Newspapers reporting is schizophrenic, about good news that is happening next to the actual facts and figures indicating a worsening disaster.
Like US "bank shares and home sales decline...(and that 2011) was the slowest year on record" for new homes built (that "industry's time has come and gone). NYS "Poll : voters upbeat on economy", a false, fraudulent and misleading poll and report, propaganda. Propaganda meant more to make it impossible for people to think for themselves than to persuade anyone of anything.

It was taken from above the tenth floor, from the hospital building on the south-east corner of Bainbridge Ave and Gun Hill Road, looking south-west past the hospital complex on the other side of the street (south-west corner) and hints at the valley between the heights of Riverdale and those of Jerome Ave. Of course, none of the crime and criminal activity between it and the high-rise buildings in Manhattan is indicated. But, having lived in the area, having had my law office there and having practiced a huge amount of Criminal and Family Court defense law in the courts of the Bronx, I know all about such.

"Ruthlessness" is often also "kindness". "Mass psychology must be appreciated, studied and used". As Confucius noted about 500 BC, "rituals must be appropriated" to fit the conditions of the day.. One must "know what to do, when to do it and be a practitioner of the art of not-doing (which is)...the science of essence". All arrogance is self-defeating. "Effectiveness comes from the force of momentum", one rides the wave of "disturbance". One who is prepared, prepared to take advantage of emergent opportunity, is "lucky". MY JOURNAL/BLOG A Book Review of "My Stroke of Insight" by a female neuroscientist who had a stroke, a Traumatic
Brain Injury (TBI) like mine (although my TBI occured as a result of being hit by a car when I was 14 1/2, nearly 50 years ago, that which left me permanently and totally disabled)
Mystical states of consciousness (SOCs) may be "inneffable, transient and passive" as James wrote, but, as a TBI survivor who is constantly plagued by such, I disagree. For normal people such may be the case, but for millions of TBI survivors like me... The authoress's "consciousness was at one with the universe" during her stroke and mine is always so - non-consciously aware. Such "cognitive dissonance is the essence of humor". Although women foster stability, that which enables the human race to survive, too much "stability" -as today with our feminist-faggot mindset- results in sterility, decadence, degradation, degeneration and death - also today's world condition. However, once a man convinces a woman that his ideas are right, she will outperform him at his own ideas because a woman makes a man's inventions work better.. The authoress was a "me" without a personal identity (which I am today or, perhaps better put, my limited human consciousness mind resides next to/within my "me" without a personal identity) as "a bizarre shift in perception" happened to her. Such is a daily experience for me. The authoress's stroke resulted in "a powerful and unusual sense of dissociation', that which is common in all PSI experiences, including "peak" experiences, being "in the zone/flow", sexual intercourse... And TBI survivors are always somewhat so. She was "consciously alert, in the flow, mentally disabled yet non conscious". She was non-consciously nonetheless aware - somewhat similar to an out-of-body (OBE) or near death (NDE) experience. As a stroke survivor she learned how essential it was "to stay out of the way of herself emotionally" (experientially). "Chaos is the first step in the creative process". ALL human language is necessarily and unavoidably "manipulative". "FEAR" is a shortcut for "False Expectations Appearing real".




WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration, in an election-year bid to help distressed homeowners, on Friday expanded its main foreclosure prevention program, and pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to forgive mortgage debt.

MY JOURNAL/BLOG Book Reviews "Philosophy of Laughter and Humor" Three main theories : superiority, relief and incongruity/confusion. We are compelled to shift mental gears and look at things in new ways, a sudden change in one's perceptual field, and we need relief so we laugh.. There is humor in what we are talking about (the concepts and stories) and arising (often unintended) from the language used (a Traumatic Brain Injury [TBI] survivor's curse, life-long which I well know because I am a TBI survivor). It is said that thee are six basic emotions : wonder, love, hatred, desire, joy and sadness. Comic genius is the ability to use somewhat inappropriate metaphors and similes (comparators) to trigger ideas that clash with each other. Ideas of grandeur, dignity, decency, beauty, harmony, manners, respect, meanness, baseness, indecency, deformity, linking together of images which have contrary additional ideas. Fear, anger, sorrow, compassion, absurdity, honor, shame, virtue, vices, pains, hopes, fears. Ridicule and satire (and I am a good -if unwitting- satirest) can lead to changing customs, expectations, assumptions. Satire is revered but not enjoyed by our reason (it is upsetting -especially to the target- even if hilarious). You can reach the body through the soul, bypassing the mind, and use the soul to heal the body (spiritual healing) with humor. The body is moved in 2 different directions by the clash between conception and perception, an incongruity between sensuous and abstract knowledge.
All laughter is a result of paradox. The association of disparate ideas results in incongruity resulting in spasmodic convulsions -laughter- from the unanticipated and unexpected discrepancies. Irony begins seriously and ends with a smile while humor begins with a smile, ending seriously.. Humor is healing. Wit is the eloquence of indifference. As rational animals, we abhor incongruity, absurdity or nonsense in any form. Nonsense, however, is good because common sense is so limited. Laughter removes inflexibility...through humiliation. Humor is a way to evade suffering. Sex, drinking, human greed...are apt targets. "Wit is what oft thought but neer so well expressed". Humor is very helpful to rationality as all our observations are conditioned and, thereby, limited (as are our limited human consciousness minds). No single proposition can be both true and false at the same time in the rational world (of our limited human consciousness minds. But all TBI survivors are saddled with "propositions that are both true and false at the same time" in their limited human consciousnes minds, lifelong -and I knw that I am constantly faced with the need to ignore my limited human consciousness mind). The ambiguity between identity and alienation characterizes jealousy. Humor depends on shared beliefs and attitudes. Satire is all about affecting these beliefs and attitudes in order to reinforce such stereotypes -current folklore- the centralizing forces that, although they may be illusory and imaginary patterns, are essential to holding people, nations together. The cultural code is an integral part of the structure of social humor (satire...because it)... circumvents reason precisely because of its duplicating nature. A comic uses the logic of the absurd, using laughter to ward off pain. Both the performer and the audience are involved in a complicity of illusion. Humor is another of the soul's weapons in the fight for self-preservation - and it includes gallows humor.

After weeks of muddling through round after round of inconclusive talks, the negotiations appear to be in their final phase with both sides hoping to secure a preliminary deal before Monday's summit of euro zone leaders.
The debt swap, in which private creditors are to take a 50 percent cut in the nominal value of their Greek bond holdings in exchange for cash and new bonds, is a pre-requisite for the country to secure a 130-billion-euro rescue package.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The economy grew at its fastest pace in 1-1/2 years in the fourth quarter, but a rebuilding of stocks by businesses and slower business spending warned of weaker growth in early 2012. (AND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR)
Gross domestic product expanded at a 2.8 percent annual rate, the Commerce Department said on Friday, a sharp acceleration from the 1.8 percent in the prior three months.

Fitch downgrades credit ratings of 5 euro zone nations
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Fitch downgraded the sovereign credit ratings of Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Slovenia and Spain on Friday, indicating there was a 1-in-2 chance of further cuts in the next two years (NEXT TWO MONTHS MORE LIKELY). In a statement, the ratings agency said the affected countries were vulnerable in the near-term to monetary and financial shocks. "Consequently, these sovereigns do not, in Fitch's view, accrue the full benefits of the euro's reserve currency status," it said. ...
Weekly unemployment claims rise to 377,000 and/but the average number of applications have fallen 9 percent since Oct. 1.

Davos, Switzerland (CNN) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel launched an outspoken defense of the European project on Wednesday, but warned that the bloc's richest nation would not make bailout promises to solve the eurozone crisis that it cannot keep.
Speaking at the annual World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos, Merkel said Germany is rightly seen as being relatively strong. But if her country commits to paying for a huge expansion of the eurozone's bailout funds, and even that is torpedoed by the capital markets, then there is a real problem.
Merkel told a standing room-only crowd that the "people say it has to be double, then it has to be triple, then we will believe you."
"We have said right from the start we wish to stand up for the euro, but we don't want to ... make a promise that we can't fulfil."


We Meant Well is a fascinating and troubling read about your experiences in Iraq as part of a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). It also paints a fairly negative picture of how the US used its power and resources abroad (IT DOES SO AT HOME TOO). What positive impact did you see from the work you did as part of a PRT?
Almost all of the money, time and other resources we used in Iraq were wasted (THE SAME WITH AMERICA'S COURTS, SOCIAL WELFARE EXPENSES, PRISONS...); they did not benefit the Iraqis as intended (NOR DID ANY FEMINIST-FAGGOT POLICIES AT HOME) and did not enhance the image of the US, which was another of our goals. We squandered our time and money on short-term, “feel good” projects (JUST LIKE WE DO IN THE USA) without ever addressing the real issues before us.

Another dig at Wall Street came with the warning to banks that “we will never bail you out again.” The issue of fairness came up again when Obama called for the creation of a special unit that will “hold accountable” those that broke the law for example over the selling of risky mortgages and other problems that he said contributed to the mortgage crisis (HE IS RIGHT -IN HINDSIGHT- BUT THAT IS NOT HOW THE WORLD WORKS. INDEED, HE IS SO WET BEHIND THE EARS WITH INCOMPETENCE... EVEN THOUGH HE IS "BRILLIANT", LIKE SO MANY REPUBLICANS - INCLUDING NEWT GINGRICH). Continuing on this theme, the president pointed out that financier Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.
We need to change the tax code “so that people like me pay our fair share of taxes,” Obama said. He pointed to the so-called Buffett rule that those earning more than a million dollars each year shouldn’t pay less than a 30 percent tax rate. “Now, you can call this class warfare all you want. But asking a billionaire to pay at least as much as his secretary in taxes? Most Americans would call that common sense,” he argued.
Moving back to foreign policy, Obama said that from Pakistan to Yemen, al-Qaeda ranks are “scrambling, knowing they can’t escape the United States of America.” He went on to say that the United States, although drawing down forces, would work to ensure a strong partnership with Afghanistan.
More broadly, he said the United States would “stand for the dignity of all human beings.” He noted that on Iran...

To round off the speech, he used the example of the unit that was sent in to kill Osama bin Laden, and the importance of teamwork over politics. Arguing that the United States “is great because we get each other’s back…No challenge is too great and no mission is too hard.”
It was a strong conclusion that now really takes the fight to the Republicans.
